Anyone who believes in indefinite growth on a physically finite planet is either mad, or an economist.

I consider it an error in scientific communication that, most of the time, merely the polished and flawless results of natural research are displayed, as in an art show. And exhibit of the finished product alone has many drawbacks and dangers for both its creator and its users. The creator of the product will be only too ready to demonstrate perfection and flawlessness while concealing gaps, uncertainties and discordant contradictions of his insight into nature. He thus belittles the meaning of the real process of natural research. The user of the product will not appreciate the rigorous demands made on the natural scientist when the latter has to reveal and describe the secrets of nature in a practical way. He will never learn to think for himself and to cope by himself. Very few drivers have an accurate idea of the sum of human efforts, of the complicated thought processes and operations needed for manufacturing an automobile. Our world would be better off is the beneficiaries of work knew more about the process of work and the existence of the workers, if they did not pluck so thoughtlessly the fruits of labor performed by others.

Belief

I’m amazed by how people strongly restrict their lifes through belief. From wikipedia you can find that belief is “a conviction held without proof of it’s validity”. And this does not only apply to religion but also to other aspects of our lifes. Have you ever wondered why you have to pay a certain price for something? Have you ever wondered why there are ups and downs in the stock markets and rating agencies? Have you ever wondered why rules and laws are not equal in every country?

Well, what I can tell you is that nothing of this was imposed by Nature, it was all built by humans, by their imagination, with the intent to make people’s lifes easier. And it may have worked for a while but now that is not the case, it no longer helps humans and we have found that it caused a great imbalance in Nature as well, so, why don’t we just change it?

On the one hand this system is what agrees better with our egoism, isn’t it? We love to feel that we have or have the potential possibility to have more and more things and more and more than anybody else, and that’s really the main problem. But on the other hand we can also say that humans got so used to this system that they can not think outside of it. Economists, sociologists, analysts of all kind, they can not see outside of this frame, they can not see that all this is a fantasy, an imagination built by ourselves and from which we can get rid of any time we want. Just like that.

So, there you have it. Next time you hear something about how the gold is so expensive or how we can not get rid of debt, think that it may be no more than a belief built by our imagination and egoism.

«As you pursue your goal, you bump into an obstacle. Whatever obstacle and block you had in your life is very very likely that is cyclical. That means it happened in the past again and again and again and again.» Pierre Grimes about the beliefs we carry along our lifes. This is part 4 of 12 of the talk about Philosophical Midwifery.

Marx got it right.

I would say that this is Marx looking at how Nature works. I even wonder if humans have any kind of subconscious fear to Nature’s system. Not because it harms them, but because it contradicts the system humans invented to “live” in this world. Because humans can not live without being “correct”, they hardly can recognize their errors and false beliefs. That would explain why Nature is being destroyed and attacked in such a miserable way.

Breakthrough

Surprise me, show me absurdity, make all my beliefs crumble, destroy the foundations of my very existence, make me tremble inside out with your words, your actions, your touch, your voice! If not, you can just leave… as there is no more space inside me for the boredom of normality… tranquility is the state of the dead… Revolution is the state of the living! What revolution? The revolution of the concept of the self, the revolution of the unbreakable turmoil of experiences inside every one of us. Let me evolve or leave me alone…

Not only creating in the sense of adding new concepts to your ever growing mental definitions of the world but actually reinventing yourself from time to time. To have all your beliefs broken at certain times, to despair with it, to get lost with it, and to find a new way of looking at life, a new way of having this experience, a new way of you.

water full of sun (by valitova)

The vasteness of the sea surrounds us, touching each and every thought, not only because of its peaceful breath, going back and forth, but mainly due to its vasteness. It give us the sense of perspective that we sometimes need. The sense that there is nothing more important than being whole and sincere with ourselves, to live in accordance to our souls. But the sea goes further because you can interact with it, feel the water touching you and transform you from being a believer to somebody that really knows that there is a sensory reality in it.
