Clouds

Clouds moving slowly through the sky, watching indifferent to the anxiety of the animal and plant experience. Day by day, they keep moving, like in an huge white procession, with no deity to honor, with no goal, with no fear.

And while I’m noting its presence, using the consciousness of the moment to register such occurrence, they ignore any of my efforts, not only because they are in a different plane than me but because they don’t need any rationalization of their existence. And who am I to show it to them?

Don’t I belong to a cloud as well? The human cloud. And I’m just a single, little molecule, or even atom or even electron or not even that, building a little part of the total cloud that passes by everyday with no meaning or goal but to search for one.

CLOUD is a large-scale interactive sculpture created from 6,000 light bulbs, new and burnt-out. Constructed by Calgary-based artists Caitlind r.c. Brown and Wayne Garrett, CLOUD was on public display for one-night-only during Calgary’s first Nuit Blanche Festival. As part of the process of creating the sculpture, the artists collected burnt out incandescent light bulbs from local households, businesses, museums, and eco stations. The idea was to create an informal collaboration between the community and the artists, reduce costs, and experiment with the potential of items post-use.

8 Minutes of the Earth’s Rotation
How I wish our planet’s movement was this apparent while staring at the night sky. It could probably make a lot more people realize just how tiny we are compared to this vast unexplored galaxy above our heads.
This is a stack of 70 pictures with a 5 second exposure each at ISO 3200 and f/2.2.
