“RADICAL OPENNESS”

An epic ode to the power of sharing ideas produced for TEDGlobal 2012 by Jason Silva. The power of human thought, and the tools it renders, so humanity evolves onward.

Practicing authenticity can feel like a daunting choice— there’s risk involved in putting your true self out into the world. But I believe there’s even more risk in hiding yourself and your gifts. Our unexpressed ideas, opinions, and contributions don’t just go away. They are likely to fester and eat away at our worthiness. I think we should be born with a warning label similar to the ones that come on cigarette packages: Caution: if you trade in your authentic self for safety you may experience the following: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addiction, rage, blame, resentment, and inexplicable grief.

Hey everyone!
Thanks for all your answers on my questions from yesterday. The bottom line was to understand how can a simple, basic organism decide that it wants to evolve and to reproduce. This is completely mad! Because somehow we are talking about a sense of continuity of the mind and self of a single organism through reproduction to achieve that evolution.
However, in general, you say that there is no reason for this to happen, and furthermore that “we are an accident”. But, isn’t it strange that before the unicellular organisms had appeared and even at that time, somehow they decided to evolve? Where does that decision came from? And what about us humans? What is this consciousness thing? Is it just an illusion that humans created to be able to survive, that can be scraped?
I can only think of 2 solutions: 1. Either this is really an astonishing accident, and we are just atoms living an illusion that will end forever someday; 2. Or, there is really a “greater” force in the universe, an universal consciousness that built all this and we are just roots of that universal consciousness and there really is no end…
We must find out! :)
Btw, I’m not sure if this is the right gif to show for this message but it seemed somehow related. Maybe this can be a moving picture of my brain while thinking on those questions. ;)
And one final note. I put the same questions on my facebook but I received no answer whatsoever. There is really no point in using facebook for deep questions. Or maybe people from tumblr are just too awesome. :P

However, in general, you say that there is no reason for this to happen, and furthermore that “we are an accident”. Followers

Please realize that the term «follower» is a bad term for those people that register to receive updates of a certain blog. When I looked for the term «follower» these were the first results I got:

1. One who subscribes to the teachings or methods of another; an adherent: a follower of Gandhi.

2. A servant; a subordinate.

3. A fan; an enthusiast.

4. One that imitates or copies another: A successful marketing campaign will have many followers.

5. A machine element moved by another machine element.

In general it seems to me that the «follower» is considered a passive person that blindly agrees to what another person says. So I just wanted to make this post to tell those of you that are following me that I do not consider you as followers but rather as life companions and I welcome all of you to share your ideas as well so we can learn together and improve ourselves, as a real human must do everyday. Thank you!
